Lukashenko asks the West not to finance Belarusian opposition

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko explained to the Foreign Ministers of Sweden Anne Linda and Finland Pekke Haavisto why the opposition did not go to parliament and asked the West not to finance its representatives.

According to the press service of the Belarusian leader, Lukashenko partially revealed the contents of the meeting with ministers in negotiations with the delegation of the Kaliningrad region, when Russian ambassador Dmitry Mezentsev noted the successful holding of parliamentary elections in Belarus.

“You think so. But they (the Foreign Ministers of Sweden and Finland – ed.) Began to say:” Why aren’t there pro-Western oppositionists? There were three people in the past, but not a single one in that.

“There is no reason for me. If people do not support, what can I do?” – the words of Lukashenko are quoted in a press service statement.

He also called on the West not to provide funding to opposition representatives. “I say: you don’t give them money. They give money, they buy cars, build mansions. Money goes a lot. We all see them.

What we don’t see, the Russians will tell us where they come from (money for the opposition – ed. ) go. Usually through Lithuania, Poland. Americans, Germans finance. Well they (the opposition – ed.) live. To hell with this power, headache? ” – added the president.
