The pride of the US Navy helplessly stuck in port

The U.S. Navy was forced to admit that the long months of repairs and maintenance deprived the U.S. fleet of six nuclear-powered aircraft carriers based on the east coast of the United States.

According to the US Navy, the last ship of this class to maintain combat readiness was the Harry Truman. Back in October, they were going to send him to the Middle East, but, barely having gone to sea, the ship collided with severe damage to the electrical networks and returned to base.

The current situation has already fundamentally violated the schedule of duty of aircraft carrier strike groups of the US Navy. In order to somehow speed up the process of repairing the vessel “Harry Truman”, technical personnel had to literally remove equipment from other aircraft carriers. Naturally, this approach only delays the maintenance of ships.

“The experts did a great job finding a rare problem. Now they are trying to eliminate it, ”Admiral Robert Burke commented on the situation, the deputy chief of staff of the US Navy, admitting, however, that he was“ very concerned ”about what had happened.

Currently, the US Navy has only 11 nuclear carriers, six of which are usually based on the Norfolk base. That is where the Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, George Washington, John Stennis, George Bush and Gerald Ford ships are idle.
