Doctors warn Britain’s Interior Ministry that Assange could die in prison

More than 60 doctors signed an open letter addressed to the head of the British Interior Ministry Preity Patel with a warning that the founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, could die in prison if he did not immediately receive medical help.

“From a medical point of view and based on available information, the ability of Julian Assange to stand trial in February 2020 causes us serious concern,” the letter said.

Specialists from the USA, Australia, Great Britain, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Sri Lanka, Poland note that Assange needs to be transferred to a medical center for an urgent assessment of his physical and psychological state by qualified specialists.

“In the absence of such assistance, we have good reason to believe that Julian Assange could die in prison,” doctors wrote.
