President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky was ready to do whatever his American counterpart Donald Trump asks for. In this, the head of the White House was assured by the US ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland during a telephone conversation on July 26.
According to The New York Times, referring to three sources, during a closed hearing, an adviser to the US Embassy in Ukraine David Holmes told representatives of the US Congress that, a day after a telephone conversation between Trump and Zelensky, the US president spoke with an American representative in the EU.
Holmes said that Trump asked Sondland whether Zelensky was ready to conduct an investigation against the Democrats. The diplomat replied in the affirmative. At the same time, Sondland told Trump that Zelensky “will do everything you ask him to.”
