S-400 will be ready for work until spring, said Turkish Minister of Defense

Russian anti-aircraft missile systems (AMS) S-400 in Turkey will be prepared for commissioning until spring next year, said Minister of Defense of the Republic Hulusi Akar.

“The work on the commissioning of these air defense systems will continue in full until the spring of 2020,” the press service of the military department quoted Akara as saying.

Deliveries of the latest air defense systems, which caused a crisis in relations between Turkey and the United States, began in mid-July. Earlier, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said that the last elements of the air defense system, according to the plan, will be delivered from Russia in November-December.

Rosoboronexport signed a contract for the supply of S-400 Triumph air defense systems of Turkey in April 2017 in Moscow. It became the largest export contract between Russia and the NATO bloc countries. Under the contract, Russia will supply Turkey with four divisions of the S-400 air defense system in the amount of about $ 2.5 billion.
