Any actions in defense of Hong Kong’s independence and threatening the sovereignty, security and interests of the PRC’s development are unacceptable, only the principle of “One country, two systems” will help Hong Kong break the deadlock and crisis, said Hong Kong administration head Carrie Lam in a video message on Wednesday.

“I intend to adhere to the following principles, whether in resolving the current crisis or continuing to perform our managerial duties. First, we will adhere to the principle of “One country, two systems” and will protect the rights and freedoms provided for by the Basic law”, –  Lam said.

According to her, “any actions in defense of Hong Kong’s independence and threatening the sovereignty, security and interests of the country’s development are unacceptable”.

“In the 22 years since Hong Kong returned to its homeland, the principle of” One country, two systems “has established itself as the best system for ensuring the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong”, –  the head of administration added.

She pointed out that the national leaders of China “have repeatedly made clear that the principle of “One country, two systems”  is a long-term national strategy that meets the fundamental interests of our country”.
