In the next 3 weeks, the second section of the heavy water nuclear reactor will be launched in Arak

In the next 3 weeks, the second section of the heavy water nuclear reactor in the city of Arak will be launched, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi said.

“Over the past 4 years, our colleagues have managed to bring the second section of the Arak heavy water reactor to the level that we can launch it in 2-3 weeks”, –  Salehi said.

He said that the Arak heavy water reactor consists of two sections, noting that most heavy water production processes are carried out in the second section.

Earlier, an official representative of the Atomic Energy Organization (AEO) of Iran, Behrouz Kamalvandi, said that Tehran was ready to return to full implementation of the nuclear deal if the other parties to the agreement fulfill their obligations, but will continue to reduce their obligations if this does not happen.

On May 8, 2019, exactly one year after the United States withdrew from the JCPOA, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced that Tehran was suspending part of its nuclear deal obligations and giving other participants six months to return to its implementation. In six months, Iran intends to analyze the situation for further action.
