“Almost nobody knew that, but the key Taliban leaders and the president of Afghanistan were going to secretly meet with me at Camp David on Sunday. They arrived in the US tonight. Unfortunately, in order to create false leverage, they admitted to the attack in Kabul, in which one of our great soldiers was killed and 11 others. I immediately canceled the meeting and canceled the peace talks, ” – Trump wrote.

He also added that “if they (the Taliban – ed.) can not agree on a ceasefire during these very important negotiations … then they probably have no way to agree on a meaningful agreement in any case.”

On September 2, a terrorist attack took place in Kabul, as a result of which 12 people were killed, including an American soldier. The Taliban took responsibility for what happened.

Earlier in Qatar, nine rounds of talks were held between the US and the Taliban. The parties agreed on a draft settlement agreement of 11 points.
