Moldova President said that the price of supplied Russian gas will decrease from October 1

Moldovan resident Igor Dodon reported on agreements reached with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to lower the price of gas supplied to the republic. Dodon wrote about this on Saturday on his Facebook page after meeting with Putin in Moscow.

“We agreed in principle and agreed on further steps for cooperation in the gas industry, which allows us to announce at this stage that tariffs for end consumers will not increase. Starting from October 1, the price of Russian gas supplied to Moldova will decrease,” –  Dodon said.
Moldova purchases gas from Gazprom under a contract that expires in 2019. Earlier Dodon stated that he intended to get gas discounts from Moscow. According to him, the previous government, which unreasonably underestimated tariffs, “left a legacy of the” energy bomb “, because of which gas prices can jump sharply [for the population] .” In addition, the republic is concerned about the possible cessation of gas supplies through Ukraine.
Foreign policy of Moldova
Dodon said that Moldova will pursue a balanced foreign policy on the basis of maintaining and strengthening the status of permanent neutrality enshrined in the constitution.
“The unique foreign policy consensus around Moldova gives us great chances for the development of the country, as well as for the full implementation of a balanced foreign policy strategy based on maintaining and strengthening the constitutional status of permanent neutrality,” – the head of Moldova wrote. According to him, during the talks he told the President of the Russian Federation “on intensifying contacts with senior representatives of the country’s key external partners (Russia, the EU and the USA), on the results of a recent meeting with the EU and NATO leadership in Brussels and on the upcoming speech at the 74th General To the UN Assembly. “
The President of Moldova emphasized the need to unite the efforts of all the participants in the five plus two negotiation format (Moldova, Transnistria, the OSCE, Russia, Ukraine and observers from the USA and the EU) in order to find an acceptable model for a political settlement of the Transnistrian problem while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova in the international -recognized boundaries.
Deputy Prime Minister, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the development of trade and economic relations with Moldova Dmitry Kozak also participated in the negotiations, and Vasily Shova, co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between the two countries, participated in the negotiations with Moldova.
