US and Poland sign 5G security agreement to block Chinese telecoms

The Declaration on “Fifth Generation Network Security”, signed between the US and Poland, is aimed at countering China. This is stated in the message of the White House.

Mark Short, chief of staff at US Vice President Michael Pence, emphasized the need for joint action against China’s attempts to collect citizens’ data with the help of its companies.

The declaration was signed on September 2 in Warsaw by Mike Pence and Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Moravecki. The parties “declare their desire to strengthen cooperation on  5G,” it says.

As it was reported earlier, in January 2019, the Polish authorities detained two people suspected of spying for China. One of them, a Chinese citizen, turned out to be an employee of Huawei.
