China will start proceedings in the WTO due to new US duties

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce reported that Beijing has initiated proceedings in the World Trade Organization (WTO) in connection with the introduction of new duties on Chinese exports from the United States.

“On September 1, the first package of additional US duties on China’s exports of $ 300 billion officially entered into force. China initiated proceedings as part of the WTO dispute settlement mechanism”, – the statement said.

The ministry noted that China will decisively defend its legitimate interests in accordance with the principles of the WTO.

Earlier, the Department of Commerce of China protested to the United States over the imposition of additional duties on September 1.
