Migrant’s new promised heaven: Alexandroupolis falls victim to hordes of invading ‘refugees’

Over the past weekend, dozens of migrants stretched from Turkey to the Greek port city of Alexandroupolis, which is located on the shores of the Aegean Sea.

This was reported by DPA, citing information from the Greek coast guard.

According to reports, Alexandroupolis managed to attract the attention of illegal immigrants, and in just two days more than 160 migrants moved there. The fact is that three years ago, Turkey and the European Union signed a bilateral agreement to deter illegal immigrants who are trying to break into Europe. However, the document allows Greece to expel back to Turkey only those migrants who landed on the islands in the eastern Aegean, and Alexandroupolis is a mainland city.

Meanwhile, according to the statistics of the European Commission for June of this year, the number of migrants who entered the EU through Turkey nevertheless decreased compared to last year. So, in the first 4 months of 2019, 11.2 thousand migrants took this route, while over the same period last year, the figure was almost 16 thousand, which is almost 30 percent more.
