Russia’s Defence Ministry said on Tuesday that an artillery warehouse near the town of Achinsk, which caught fire the day before, is not under threat anymore. It released footage showing smoke coming from various locations in the area. The ministry deployed 70 sappers, five Mi-8 helicopters and ten Il-76 aircraft to clear the area from unexploded devices and tackle the fire. Deputy Defence Minister said that people from the nearby Kamenka settlement will be invited back to their homes only when these tasks are finished. Nearly 4,000 people were evacuated from the town of Achinsk and other settlements by buses and trains, while others left by car. The ammunition depot storing over 40,000 artillery shells caught fire after a massive explosion on Monday.
