USA: Trump says he is ‘the least racist person in the world’ amid Cummings row

US President Donald Trump credited himself as being “the least racist person in the world” as he addressed the reporters on the White House lawn in Washington DC on Tuesday.

The statement came after Trump reiterated his earlier attacks on US Representative Elijah Cummings and his district of Baltimore.

“Baltimore is an example of what corrupt government leads to,” said Trump who added billions of dollars have been misspent or missing in Baltimore on Cumming’s watch.

Trump was also asked whether he had informed himself regarding the alleged poisoning of Russian Opposition Leader Alexei Navalny.

“I’ve heard about it, I don’t know about it, but I’ll find out about it, this is new. I heard about it last night,” Trump said.

Trump attacked the Cummings over the weekend, tweeting that his district of Baltimore was ‘disgusting, rat and rodent infested’ and earlier aimed comments at four congresswomen of colour, which were widely criticised as racist.
