USA: Democratic hopefuls back airport food workers’ protest

Democratic presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren joined the picket line at Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington DC on Tuesday. Airline food workers staged a rally as part of their dispute over wages and healthcare coverage. Union leaders claim workers struggle to make ends meet all the while airline industry profits continue to skyrocket. Members voted to strike in June, however they must be granted permission from the National Mediation Board because of the potential impact such action could have on travel.
