‘You can leave’ – Trump continues war of words with Democratic congresswomen

US President Donald Trump continued his war of words with four Democratic congresswomen, saying “if you are not happy here then you can leave.” He made the remarks at the White House in Washington DC on Monday.

Amid the sound of heckling from members of the audience Trump doubled down on his Sunday tweet in which he called on the unnamed women to “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime[-]infested places from which they came.”

“I’ve never used any names but these are people [quiet! quiet! quiet!] that if they don’t like it here they can leave and I’d be, I don’t know who’s gonna miss them but I guess some people will,” he said.

Trump’s tweets were followed by accusations of racism from the four congresswomen. The US president denied the claims.
