Hundreds of protesters were seen violently clashing with police in Hong Kong on Monday morning, on the anniversary of Hong Kong’s handover to China.
Police can be seen rushing a line of protesters, who formed a wall of umbrellas in an attempt to block pepper spray. Several protesters can later be seen on the ground.
This year’s anniversary comes amid ongoing tensions in Hong Kong, which has been rocked by protests since the end of March. Protests continue despite Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Carrie Lam announcing an indefinite suspension of the extradition bill. Protesters are now demanding Lam’s resignation.
