Iran: Foreign Ministry spox condemns ‘aggressive’ US drone-use

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Seyyed Abbas Mousavi condemned the alleged infraction into Iranian airspace of a US drone earlier in the day as “aggressive and provocative,” as he appeared on state TV in Isfahan on Thursday.

Mousavi also stated that Tehran had “launched a protest” against the US’ purported actions through the mechanism of the UN.

A US drone was apparently shot down earlier in the day by Iran, prompting outrage from US President Donald Trump, who tweeted that the downing of the drone was a “big mistake.” He later toned down his disapproval, speculating that Iran may have shot down the drone by mistake.

Washington maintains that the drone was flying over international waters.
