UK: Thousands gather at Westminster for anti-Trump protest

Thousands of Londoners and the inflatable blimp of ‘Baby Trump’ gathered at Westminster in London on Tuesday to protest against US President Donald Trump, who is on a three-day state visit to the UK.

The protesters and the 20-foot (6 metres) blimp of the nappy-clad president, inaugurated during Trump’s previous visit in July 2018, brought central London to a standstill as they gathered in Trafalgar Square before marching to Parliament Square in what organisers called a “Carnival of Resistance” against the president.

A huge police and security operation was on hand with more than 3,500 officers deployed on the streets.

Trump will stay in the United Kingdom until Wednesday when he’ll head to Ireland, and visit France on Friday.
