Donbass’ Republics ready to enter EEU, CIS markets

Lugansk and Donetsk people’s republics can become full-fledged economic partners of Russia, and certainly not aspire to be dependents, told the representative of the Lugansk People’s Republic at the Minsk negotiating process, Rodion Miroshnik.

According to him, the problem of Donbass is not the lack of economic potential, but the fact that at some point it was artificially blocked by the Kiev regime and the sanctions of the West.

“Almost in the whole history of its existence, Donbass was never dependent on anyone. Donbass is the coal, metallurgical, machine-building and chemical industries. But the region’s colossal economic and export potential was subjected to an economic and logistic blockade imposed by the Ukrainian authorities and the sanctions pressure of the West,” he explained.

At the same time, he stressed that in order to lift the blockade, Kiev needs serious political will, and Donbass, in turn, doesn’t need humanitarian aid at all.

“Now we need full-fledged conditions for interaction with the wounds of Russia, the CIS and the EEU,” he noted, adding, however, that in the current economic situation, time is playing against the people’s republics, and the “half measures” are now “hardly applicable”.
