Washington is counting on the fact that the newly elected President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky will continue the course of his predecessor, Petro Poroshenko, despite the fact that the Ukrainians actually voted against such a scenario.
On this on Friday, May 3, the press service of the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington reports.
“House of Representatives of the US Congress expressed the need for greater support for Ukraine on the path of reform and countering the aggression of Russia,” – said in a statement.
At the same time, it is noted that congressmen see Zelensky as the continuer of the reform process, in particular, anti-corruption, who did not ask Petro Poroshenko. They also hope that the new president will ensure political stability in Ukraine.
In the diplomatic mission they noted that Washington, against the background of the above, is ready to provide Kiev with “expanded political, diplomatic and military-technical assistance in the struggle against Russia’s aggression”. In addition, the United States intends to intensify work on the Azov direction, as well as, jointly with the “European partners,” to increase the sanctions pressure on Moscow.
