Former Brazilian president Michel Temer was escorted to Sao Paulo airport by a police convoy on Thursday, after being arrested on corruption charges.
The former leader, who lost his legal protection after leaving standing down in January, was arrested in Sao Paulo earlier in the day and later flown to Rio de Janeiro to face trial.
Prosecutors accuse Temer of taking bribes from construction company Engevix, in exchange for a contract to build a nuclear power plant in the city of Angra dos Reis, in the southern part of Rio de Janeiro state.
The ex-president, who came to power after leading the impeachment of his predecessor Dilma Rousseff in August 2016, denies any wrongdoing.
