Stoltenberg says NATO doesn’t want ‘new Cold War’ with Russia

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the organisation doesn’t want a “new Cold War” with Russia, calling on it to go back into compliance with INF treaty, speaking in Kosice on Thursday.

During a panel discussion with Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak, Stoltenberg also added that the dialogue with Russia is what is needed.

“We actually want dialogue with Russia because Russia is our neighbour, Russia’s here to stay. But at the same time we need to make sure that we continue to deliver credible deterrence and defence also in a world without the INF treaty and with more Russian missiles in in Europe,” he said.
