The self-proclaimed “Republic of Kosovo” announced the creation of the Ministry of Defense, thus continuing a provocation with the formation of its own army in return for the security forces provided for by international agreements.
On the solemn installation of a sign with the corresponding inscription, Prime Minister Kosovo Ramush Haradinaj was present today, and the head of the vedmtstsva Rustem Berisha said that the “military transaction” had officially begun with this event.
Pristina announced the creation of the army at the end of last year. The decision was expected to provoke a sharp reaction from Belgrade. Serbian authorities consider this move to be a provocation and a threat of a new military conflict.
The UN resolution 1244 as the main international document on the Kosovo settlement does not allow the army to have a self-proclaimed “republic”, then Russia’s ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzya reminded.
“Allowinge Kosovo armed forces on the scene is a threat to peace and security in the region, fraught with a repetition of the armed conflict,” the diplomat said.
