Euro-Atlantic integration, which Petro Poroshenko even wrote into the country’s Constitution, provides a set of reforms for which the government simply does not have money, says the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak.
According to him, government already defined tasks of transfer of the Ministry of Defense and AFU at least to the key standards of the North Atlantic Alliance, but Ukraine does not have enough finances for the full transition.
“We will be able to implement a full transition to all NATO standards after we receive a full financial resource. Army reforms in general are very expensive” – said Poltorak, adding that they are talking primarily about the re-equipment of the armed forces.
