Serbia: Europe and the United States need pressure on Kosovo

The pressure of Europe and the USA on the authorities of the self-proclaimed “Republic of Kosovo” is necessary. While Pristina will not abolish the 100 percent tax on the import of goods from Central Serbia, the dialogue is frozen, said Serbian Trade Minister Rasim Ljaic.

“These economic measures are in fact political,” the minister stressed and added that there is a consensus in the international community: the tax is unacceptable and must be abolished.

About a month ago, Pristina introduced a 100% duty on goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. This leads to a huge price hike for the serbon-populated north of the region of Kosovo and Metohija, including those for basic necessities.

Kosovo has recently taken other measures that undermine the dialogue with Belgrade, in particular, announced the formation of an army.
