According to media reports, the protests in Portugal have so far been held quite restrained, and there have been no serious incidents. However, very soon a large-scale rally will unfold in Lisbon, where all sorts of provocations are not excluded.
At the moment, the demonstrations are held in seventeen cities in Portugal. At the same time, there are 25 protests themselves. Fearing possible unrest, the authorities took to the streets of cities about 20,000 law enforcement officers, although, as the media writes, they do not leave hope that the protests will be held peacefully.
The protest movement itself was formed through social networks. Protesters advocate an increase in the minimum wage and unemployment benefits. They also need to reduce the value added tax and the taxation of small businesses.
Recall that the protests of the “yellow vests” first occurred in France, where the protesters demanded the abolition of the fuel tax. Later, protesters appeared in Brussels. Against this background, there was an outbreak of a revolution in Budapest, where protesters demanded the resignation of the government due to unpopular labor law.
