Representatives of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics Natalya Nikonorova and Vladislav Daney supported the call of the French and German foreign ministries to resume the cease-fire on the contact line in the Donbass.
“On behalf of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, we responsibly declare that we fully support the urgent appeal of the political directors of the French and German Foreign Ministries to the contact group participants regarding the need for the parties to resume the cease-fire along the contact line without any restrictions,” the plenipotentiaries said in a statement.
It is noted that the plenipotentiaries expressed hope for agreeing on the date of the beginning of the truce during the videoconference of the subgroup on security to be held on December 27.
They called on the foreign ministers of Russia, France and the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as the OSCE, “to do everything possible to reason with the Ukrainian leadership and prevent negative developments that would be disastrous for more than 6 million residents of Donbass on both sides of the contact line.”
The plenipotentiaries also reaffirmed their commitment to a peaceful resolution of the conflict in the Donbass and expressed concern about the large-scale redeployment of heavy weapons and armored vehicles by the Ukrainian forces to the line of contact.
