The main purpose of the provocative attacks from Ukraine was the bridge across the Kerch Strait, said First Deputy Head of the Coast Guard Department of the Border Guard Service of the FSB, Vice Admiral Alexei Volsky.
“As you know, statements were regularly made at various levels by various representatives of Ukraine about the need to destroy the Crimean Bridge,” he said.
According to the vice-admiral, provocations in the Kerch Strait area intensified in August. Ukrainian frontier boats threatened Russian ships with fire to kill and demonstrated artillery mounts put on alert. At the same time, Russian border guards never threatened Ukrainian sailors, Volsky stressed.
