After several weeks of protests and outright pogroms that France was feeling, the government of the republic nevertheless decided to make concessions.
A media report said that the country’s prime minister, Edouard Philippe, decided to halt the increase in the tax on fuel, which was to be introduced early next year.
Recall that it was the fuel price hike that became the official reason for the protests that swept the whole country, but for a long time Paris refused to make concessions. Apparently, after examining the battlefield in which the country had turned, the authorities realized that the unrest is more expensive, given that the majority of the population for obvious reasons on the side of the protesters. And this is not to mention the financial side. Only last Saturday and only in Paris, the damage was inflicted on 4 million euros. But before that, there were two more large-scale actions.
With all this, it should be noted that on the eve, the representative of the “yellow vests” made a loud statement. According to him, the protesters already want not just the abolition of the fuel tax, but a change of government. Perhaps it was this factor that influenced Philippe’s decision, however, it is quite likely that it will no longer be able to influence the situation, and the protests will continue until the new will of the “yellow vests” is fulfilled.
