Explosion Reportedly Rocks Afghan Capital, Casualties Feared

Reports of the incident come amid ongoing clashes between government forces and the Taliban in the provinces of Ghazni and Baghlan, which have led to the death of at least 36 Afghan troops, killed by the militants.
A blast occurred in the city of Kabul, TOLO news broadcaster reported on Monday. Following the explosion, an Interior Ministry spokesman told the broadcaster 1TV that there are casualties, but the exact number of those killed or injured is currently unknown.

According to the officials, the incident happened in front of a high school in the downtown area of the city.

The blast occurred as US special envoy Zakmay Khalilzad prepared to carry out a new round of meetings in order to commence a negotiation process with the Taliban and settle the situation in the war-torn country.
