No restrictions of political nature are in place for investment of money of the National Wealth Fund (NWF) into Italian sovereign securities, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday after talks with Prime Minister of Italy Giuseppe Conte. The issue of such investing was not discussed during talks, Putin noted.
“We will not limit work of our National Wealth Fund from the political level; we look for various options of investing these funds,” the President said. “However, this is the issue for work at the level of economic operators. No limitations of political nature are in place here,” Putin noted.
NWF is replenished fairly quickly, Putin said. “Growth of our reserves is $7-8 bln per month now, to say nothing of gold and currency reserves of the Bank of Russia, which reached $460 bln,” the head of state added.
