Russia: Military tests nuclear readiness in country-wide drills

The Russian Ministry of Defence released footage of the large-scale military drills aimed at testing Russia’s nuclear deterrent on Thursday.

The drills took place both on land, sea, and air putting; to test the county’s land-launched nuclear missiles, nuclear-armed submarines and aircraft with nuclear bombs; designed for retaliation against an enemy attack.

Submarines of both the North and Pacific fleets successfully launched missiles, while long-range aircraft took off from airfields Engels, Shaykovka, and Ukrainka.

One of the drills’ major objectives was to examine the whole command and control structure of nuclear forces.
