UN: Hungary slams EU’s response to migration crisis

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto criticised the European Union’s stance on migration in his address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Friday.

“Unfortunately I have to tell you that [the] European Union has failed while looking for an answer to this challenge,” Szijjarto told delegates.

“[the] European Union has gave a very bad answer because instead of concentrating on how to stop the migratory flows, [the] European Union concentrated on how to encourage and how to manage the flows. And this is basically a policy of invitation.”

Representatives of all 193 UN members’ states are gathered for the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly meeting, which takes place between September 25 and October 1.
