Poroshenko’s cabinet believes that Donbass conflict will last for 10 years

The introduction of UN peacekeepers into the territory of the people’s republics of Donbass, with an eye on the conditions prescribed in the Minsk relations, can prolong the conflict for a rather long period, which, according to Poroshenko’s cabinet, is not so bad.

Verkhovna Rada’s MP from Petro Poroshenko’s Bloc, Alexander Briginets told the details of the Kiev plan, noting that there is no need to hurry with local elections in the Donbass.

“There are risks, of course. That’s why there’s no need to hurry. That’s why we need to make sure that it happens the way it should. Elections can happen, at any time – the Minsk Protocol has a wonderful point, which we all do not like. It sounds so that Russia transfers control over the border to Ukraine after the elections,” the portal “Political Navigator” quotes the People’s Deputy.

At the same time Briginets emphasizes that the Minsk agreements “do not say anything about the fact that UN peacekeepers can exercise control over the border”.

“Thus, if peacekeepers come to this border, then elections can be held in 10 years, it does not really matter,” the official said.
