EU refuses to introduce additional anti-Russian sanctions over UK claims in Skripal case

The European Union refused to support Washington’s intention to introduce yet another anti-Russian sanctions because of the incident in the British city of Salisbury, to which, according to the US, Russia is “involved”.

This was reported by Kommersant referring to its own source in the structures of the European Union. The publication notes that the US Congress demanded that Brussels introduce new sanctions, since “the crime occurred on European soil.”

Sources Kommersant said that the EU will not go on about Washington.

“Given the recent events and Washington’s position on Tehran and some other issues, we have a feeling that there is no deep coordination between the US and the European Union,” the EU representative said.

Recall that the British authorities accuse Russia of alleged involvement in the incident in Salisbury. In March of the current year in the UK, ex-employee of the GRU Sergey Skripal and his daughter Yuliya were poisoned.

With respect to Russia, a new package of sanctions, introduced by Washington on August 22, began to operate. Restrictive measures concern the ban on the supply of electronics from the US, lasers and other equipment.
