Hungary blocks Ukraine-NATO Comission talks over language law

The meetings of the Ukraine-NATO special commission at the ministerial level are still blocked by Hungary says Ukraine’s ambassador to NATO Vadim Pristaiko

This isnt the first time Hungary blocks the meetings of the joint commission at the ministerial level. According to available information, the tension in the relations between Ukraine and Hungary arose because of the adoption of a new law on education by Ukraine, which substantially reduces the possibility of instruction in the languages of national minorities.

“The ministerial level is blocked, that is, when the ministers of the alliance meet once a year and a special session devoted to Ukraine is held, the so-called” Ukraine-NATO “commission. This level is truly blocked and above it hangs the level of the summit, “Pristaiko said.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine had protested Hungary’s actions  because of it’s “unfriendly steps” .
