Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada from the faction of the “Bloc of Peter Poroshenko” (BPP) propose to ban advertising in the Russian language in the country, “PolitNavigator” reports.
The bill “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine” On Advertising “(registration number 8522), allowing to introduce such a norm, is registered with the Secretariat of the Parliament, its press service said on Monday.
The bill was made by People’s Deputies Alexander Briginets, Grigory Shverk, Vadim Denisenko, Elena Matuzko, Irina Freese and Olga Chervakova.
As noted in the press service of the BCP, the prepared document provides for amending the sixth article of the law “On Advertising” with a clear definition of the procedure for the use of languages in advertising.
“The document determines that the language of advertising in Ukraine is the state language, which, according to the Constitution, is Ukrainian,” the BPP stressed. The authors of the bill argued that the Ukrainian legislation does not contain a legal norm that would regulate the language of advertising, which “creates an unequal interpretation of the legal regime of the language of advertising among citizens, business entities and government agencies.”
