Protesters run from tear gas during demo in Gaza Strip

Protesters ran from tear gas during a rally in the Gaza Strip, east of Gaza city, on Tuesday.

The protesters were demonstrating against violence that saw over 50 people killed in marches on Monday, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

Demonstrations took place across Palestinian territories on 15 May, to condemn violence against protesters and in recognition of Nakba Day, or “Day of the Catastrophe”, which marks the foundation of the State of Israel in 1948 and is remembered by Palestinians as the start of their displacement in the region.
