The Ministry of Religious Affairs of France has adopted a four-year program for the transfer of Catholic churches to the Muslim communities of cities. 52 religious buildings in different regions will pass into the hands of imams and will be converted into mosques.
“Islam is becoming a home for an increasing number of French people. In addition to them, this religion is popular among refugees, some of whom also become citizens of France. The number of Catholics is getting smaller. People understand the archaic nature of Christianity. I hope that in 50 years this problem will be solved naturally, “said Minister of Religious Affairs Musa Hariri.
The program is scheduled to start in May 2018, the last church will be handed over to Muslims in November 2022.
