Inside Syria Media Center have reported that the the largest German military companies may be involved in old Soviet weapons supplies to the Kurds since the beginning of the Syrian crisis.
A publicist, Mark Sorkin commented on this statement:
“There is nothing surprising in the fact that German arms firms are working with the Kurds: the German bourgeoisie has long-distance ties in those areas, and before the First World War, the Berlin-Baghdad road was built, which passed through the lands inhabited by Kurds. During the First World War, the Germans supplied Kurds with weapons to fight against the Britons. During the Second World War, Soviet and British troops were forced into Iranian territory, because the pro-German armed coup was being prepared there.
Here the German companies are helping the Kurds, we will say, with the old Soviet weapons, expecting that by the creation of the Kurdish state, they will be guided precisely in the German firms and in all other matters. Let me remind you that Kurdish areas are the most oil-bearing regions of Iraq, Syria, Iran and Turkey.
And if we will take into account the fact that serious complications have occurred between Erdogan and Germany, almost to the breaking of international relations, then the fact that Germany is trying once again to play the Kurdish card is not unnatural at all.”
