Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said that trade relations between China and the United Kingdom will remain unaffected by Brexit, at a press conference alongside United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, on Wednesday.
The Chinese premier stated, “Brexit is a situation that both of our countries will have to face. But in the long term, our relation has been continuously moving forward. Our relations will not change with the EU and the UK, as their relations change.”
May stressed, “I am pleased that we have agreed to intensify the golden era of UK-China relations,” adding she hopes to improve “bilateral trade and investment relationships.”
Their bilateral meeting comes as part of the UK’s prime minister first official visit to China.
