The Stuttgart police had to intervene yesterday, when hundreds of pro-Kurdish and pro-Turkish demonstrators clashed with each other during competing demonstrations. Some of the demonstrators who fought with counter-protesters were detained.
The Turkish military operation in Syrian Afrin against the Kurdish militia became a trigger mechanism that even in Germany Kurds and Turks again go against each other in the streets.
The pro-Turkish protester explained that those who gather at the pro-Turkish demonstration are fighting “injustice in the media”, as they assure people that Turkey is waging war against the Kurds. “Today we want to clarify that this war is not against the Kurdish people, but against the terrorist organizations PKK and PYD, YPG and the Islamic State,” he added.
