Serbia: Thousands lit candles in memory of Oliver Ivanovic in Belgrade

Several thousand people came to the Temple of St. Sava in Belgrade last night to pay tribute to Oliver Ivanovic, one of the most prominent representatives of the Kosovo Serbs, who was killed the day before in Kosovo’s Mitrovica.

“Oliver Ivanovic was a real politician and representative of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, who did the best for our people that he could,” commented one of the action participants.

Many said that they did not know Oliver Ivanovic personally, but still came to honor his memory out of respect for his struggle to preserve the southern edge of Serbia. The action was peaceful, no incidents and political provocations were reported.
