Macedonia: Albanians protest against the verdict to terrorists

A mass march of local Albanians, chanting “UCHK” (the Kosovo Liberation Army) in the center of Skopje were protesting against the verdict for terrorists from the so-called “Kumanovsky group”.

Protesters marched from Skenderbeg Square to the building of the Criminal Court. They carried photographs of terrorists and Albanian flags. Demonstrators demanded the international community to intervene in the court’s decision, the Macedonian media reported.

Recall, in May 2015, the Macedonian settlement of Divo, the population in the Kumanovo region was attacked by an armed group of Albanians from Kosovo. 10 people were killed and 40 people were injured. Last week, the surviving terrorists were sentenced, they received various terms of imprisonment.

Earlier similar action took place in Pristina – the capital of the self-proclaimed “republic of Kosovo”. Participants tried to break through to the Macedonian embassy, but they were kept by the police. Prime Minister of Kosovo Ramush Haradinaj, also addressed the meeting, and said he would ask for international assistance on the occasion of Kumanovo.
