This week, the Syrian Army have mobilized its forces in the province of Deir ez-Zor for a decisive large-scale offensive aimed at driving ISIS from the provincial capital.
The 4th and 17th divisions of the SAA, together with the 5th Army Corps, cleared the territory around the Sukhna – Deir ez-Zor highway, in order to re-establish the strategic supply line from the province of Homs.
Once this supply line is completely safe, within the next 48 hours, the SAR Army and its allies must begin a decisive offensive to clear the remaining areas occupied by the ISIS militants in the provincial capital of Deir ez-Zor.
On Tuesday, after the start of the large-scale offensive, the Syrian Arab Army took another big step towards defeating the terrorists in Deir ez-Zor.
Relying on the heavy air strikes of the Russian Air Force, the SAA stormed ISIS positions in the Al-Arfi area, taking a number of buildings inside this terrorist citadel.
Government troops took control of most of the Al-Arfi district on Tuesday evening, while destroying dozens of terrorists, including one of their warlords.
As a result of this progress, the SAA was able to move deeper from the strategic bridge Al-Siyasiyah, which for several years was used by the militants as a crossing from the provincial capital.
