Ukraine: Firefighters battle deadly children’s leisure camp blaze

At least three children have been reportedly killed after the Viktoria sports and recreation camp in Odessa caught on fire on Saturday. Firefighters were on the scene dealing with the blaze, after having to reportedly source a water supply 1.2 km (0.7 miles) from the campus, as the fire reservoir in the camp was blocked. The heat of the fire has reportedly shattered glass and melted balconies of cottages nearby. The camp is believed to have had 42 children present when the fire struck just after midnight. The vast majority of children were safely evacuated, with a number hospitalised from smoke inhalation and shock. Several children were reportedly hospitalised with injuries sustained after jumping from the window of the burning building.
