Nuclear test of North Korea fraught with serious consequences – Russian Foreign Ministry

Another North Korean nuclear test is aimed at undermining the global non-proliferation regime and poses a serious threat to peace and security in the region, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.

Previously, the DPRK announced the successful testing of the hydrogen warhead, which is intended for equipping intercontinental ballistic missiles. The order to conduct the test was given by North Korean leader Kim Jong-no.
“It is regrettable that the DPRK leadership, through its actions aimed at undermining the global non-proliferation regime, poses a serious threat to peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and in the region as a whole.” Continuation of such a line is fraught with serious consequences for the DPRK itself, ” in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As noted in Moscow, in the current circumstances it is imperative to “remain calm, refrain from any actions leading to further escalation of tension.”

“We call upon all interested parties to immediately return to dialogue and negotiations as the only possible way of complex settlement of the problems of the Korean peninsula, including nuclear one.” We confirm our readiness for joint efforts in this direction, including in the context of the implementation of the Russian-Chinese road map, “stressed in the foreign policy department of the Russian Federation.
