Spain: 67 refugees successfully scale Ceuta border fence

Around 200 refugees stormed a border fence in an attempt to reach Spain’s North African enclave of Ceuta, early Tuesday morning. Reportedly, 67 migrants successfully crossed into Spain.

Several groups of refugees remain dispersed around the city, showing signs of exhaustion but also of elation at having managed to enter the European Union. Many celebrated and raised their hands as a sign of victory. Several of the refugees also sustained injuries in the process of crossing the border fence.

Red Cross officers arrived on site to provide medical assistance to the injured. 14 migrants were reportedly transferred to the Ceuta hospital for the further treatment.
