Turkey has prevented German parliamentarians from making a visit to German troops stationed at Konya airbase in Turkey.
This comes shortly after Germany has finished pulling out from its main Incirlik airbase in Turkey over the exact same Turkish moves.
Incirlik was Germany’s main airbase where its strike aircraft were located. They have since been transferred to non-NATO Jordan.
Konya was Germany’s secondary airbase in Turkey where its AWACS planes were based. It was planned these would remain in Turkey but now that is in doubt.
